Project Description:
Many Chief Consulting Ltd. successfully delivered a comprehensive evaluation of the "Growing Indigenous Tourism in Atlantic Canada" initiative, assessing its economic impact and addressing the challenges posed by COVID-19 on the Indigenous tourism sector. This study reviewed funding impacts from government and NGOs, identified gaps and barriers, and explored sustainability needs for Indigenous Tourism Associations. The final report and resource tool aim to guide the development of sustainable economic opportunities and partnerships in the Atlantic Canadian tourism sector.
Key Project Tasks:
Engaged with a diverse range of stakeholders, including Indigenous and non-Indigenous tourism associations, federal and provincial representatives, Indigenous community leaders, and tourism entrepreneurs.
Conducted a detailed review of economic development policies, programming, and funding supports for Indigenous tourism from 2020 to 2023.
Analyzed the impacts of COVID-19 and assessed gaps and barriers in the support mechanisms for Indigenous tourism businesses and associations.
Outcomes:
Delivered a comprehensive report evaluating the historical and current state of Indigenous tourism supports in Atlantic Canada, including insights into funding impacts and sector challenges.
Provided strategic recommendations to enhance sustainability, support mechanisms, and growth for Indigenous tourism businesses and organizations.
Developed a resource tool to guide Indigenous communities and stakeholders in advancing economic opportunities and fostering partnerships in the tourism sector.
