CANDO CEDI - Skownan First Nation, and Mossey River Municipality: Tourism Opportunities Assessment Plan

Project Description:
As part of a joint economic development initiative, Many Chief Consulting Ltd. led a Tourism Opportunities Assessment to explore potential partnerships between Skownan First Nation and Mossey River Municipality. This assessment aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the region’s current tourism landscape and identify opportunities for sustainable tourism development that align with the needs and aspirations of both communities.
Key project tasks included:
Environmental Scan: Analyzed existing tourism activities, regional trends, challenges, and potential partnerships to create a foundation for planning.
Community Partner Workshop: Facilitated discussions with elected officials and community representatives to explore tourism opportunities and gather valuable insights.
Tourism Opportunity Assessment: Evaluated potential growth opportunities and provided actionable recommendations for tourism development.
Outcomes:
Conducted a detailed environmental scan to inform stakeholders of the tourism environment in Manitoba.
Delivered a three-day workshop, including a two-day community tour and assessment, engaging both communities in collaborative discussions.
Produced a comprehensive assessment with tailored recommendations for tourism readiness and business development opportunities in each community.
This project has laid the groundwork for a collaborative approach to tourism growth, strengthening ties between Skownan First Nation and Mossey River Municipality while supporting their shared economic development goals.
